From the Street to the World!

From the Street to the world!

I met Jeremy in Causewayhead, Penzance, Cornwall, doing his daily routine of selling photocopies of his artwork on the street to support his lifestyle.  On seeing him I approached him and asked him if he wrote any poems, to which he replied that he didn't.  I told him that I wasn't going to give him any money but if he poems or proses I would get them published in the Penny Author's anthology, as aspiration attained is priceless.

I thought, OK, no go, can't help this man.

If you have bought one of his paintings please like and share this blog for him. Kindness will return two folds.

Now, the anthology was created to support aspiring writers and not artist, however, I was an artist first and then a writer, then it hit me, I have to create covers for these anthologies, why not incorporate images from artists. Bingo!

Next time I went looking for Jeremy and told him what I was going to do and how I was going to help him with his skill. I was going to accept his work and make it the front cover image of the Penny Authors Anthology, which will be published and then made available to the global market through the on-line store, primarily via Amazon.

This is the cover!

Not only that his artwork will be included in a book that with have been registered with an ISBN number and registered in the British Libary, Oxford, Cambridge, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.  This will give his work exposure on a global level, including national level. His work will be on the web and this will support his portfolio building, and  support his aspirations that had to take a back seat.

It took a while to get the 2019 issue out and when it was released I handed over to him his 1st copy, "Book of Lived, Volume 5; over at the Redwing Gallery. He was happy and pleased. I was happy that he accepted my offer and that he enabled me to help. This is the first time he is holding the book with his artwork on the front cover.

Now that the book was out I organised a launch of the book at the Redwing Gallery. The launch was attending by Cllr Tracey Halliday, the Civic Deputy. You can read more about the launch, click the link.

This was the begining of a professional relationship and we went on to developing a short term strategy to further his artwork.  He gave me access to his portfolio and guess what, he  had scribbled and dodled some of his thoughts. Great stuff! he made it to the 2020 issue of the anthology, Titles: Book of Lived, volume 6.

Many times when I have asked people if they write poems, they get the, "Shakespear phobia," their brain halts at; poem = Shakespear and go into denial.

Moving forward from 2018, Jeremy has now fulfilled his short term strategy of getting his work appraised and then getting them positive exposure. He now has a feather in his cap, with the front cover and now in 2020 he has his scrbbles in the volume of the, "Book of Lived," anthology by Panny Authors; along with other 30+ writers.

Jeremy now has a long term strategy to get his own book published.  This will include his life and his journey.  Looking forward to getting this to fulfillment.  Awesome!
